The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 in Game 3 of the World Series on Monday, extending their series lead to 3-0. The victory marked the seventh consecutive win for the Brewers across the National League Championship Series and the World Series.
Milwaukee generated 10 runs on 16 hits during the contest. The Rays managed only one run on three hits. The Rays scored their sole run in the ninth inning, a point that came after the outcome had largely been decided.
Jackson Chourio led the offensive effort with four hits, two runs, and one run batted in. He opened the game with a single and recorded hits in his first three at-bats. His fourth hit, a double, occurred during an eight-run fifth inning. The double was the softest of his hits, exiting at 99 mph, while the other three were classified as hard-hit balls.
At 22 years old, Chourio became the youngest player to record a four-hit game in the World Series since Joe Garagiola in 1946. He finished the series with a .571 batting average, having gone 8-for-14 in three games. He also stole a base in Game 3, bringing his postseason total to three steals.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy praised the outfielder's consistency and defensive work. "He's a total player," Murphy said. "He's turning into a fine player. He's understanding what it takes, the discipline that it takes." Murphy noted that Chourio's approach mirrors the continuous improvement of professional athletes who prioritize discipline and effort.
Chourio signed a team-friendly contract with Milwaukee that extends through the 2031 season, with two additional club options available through 2033. The player, who was limited to 127 games this season due to injury, recorded 4.9 WAR. He has reached the 20-home-run, 20-steal mark in three separate seasons. The Brewers will host Game 4, where a win would make them the first team in Major League Baseball history to go 8-0 in the final two rounds of the postseason.
The Rays had their best offensive opportunity in Game 2 when they scored four runs in the first inning. They failed to score in the remaining eight innings of that game, losing 5-4. They have not scored since that first-inning burst in the second game of the series.
